Natural Weight Loss and Spices
Natural weight loss and spices are a natural together. Besides adding flavor to foods, many spices can give a boost to your metabolism, helping you burn at least a few more calories. You get the added flavor that spices add for virtually no calories, and they can help you reduce other ingredients, such as salt, sugar , and oils or fats. Using less sugar and fat is an easy way to reduce the calories you eat every day.
I found an article from the Times of India which talks about some spices common to Indian food:
“It’s no secret, any more, that spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, and peppers have several health benefits that go above and beyond temporary metabolism bursts or short-term hormonal influences. Whether included in Indian style curries, or added to grills and bakes, spices are the new saviours for anyone looking to eat healthy food without compromising on taste. How can you make spices a part of your personal weight loss plan? Let’s take a look at the top performing spices and how you can benefit from their weight loss properties.”
You can read the full article here: Spices and Weight Loss
The spices the article talks about are: Cayenne pepper, Cinnamon, Mustard, Turmeric, Garlic, and Ginger; none of these are hard to find, and they are not limited to Indian food.
Any of the spicy peppers (Jalapeno, Habanero, Scotch Bonnet, Thai Bird, etc.) will have a similar metabolic boosting effect as Cayenne, although, some are far hotter, like the Scotch Bonnet, Habanero and the Thai Bird Peppers, and one of the hottest, the Naga Joloika or Ghost Pepper; if you are new to hot peppers, don’t start with the hottest you can find, start at the mild end. You can do a Google search for the Scoville Scale, which classifies how fiery peppers are, based on their capsaicin content. Pick one from the lower end of the scale, and work your way up the scale, if you so choose.
Each of the spices has benefits beyond any metabolic boost they may give, so they make a good addition to your spice rack. Some, like ginger and garlic are readily available both fresh and dried, and there is a noticeable difference in the flavor between the fresh and the dried. (In Chinese medicine, dried ginger is considered to be more warming than fresh ginger, so may give you more of a metabolic boost.)
If you have been cooking with a limited range of spices, you can use this article as a starting point to expand your horizons, while shrinking your waistline. You may find that natural weight loss and spices will brighten up your diet, and make you miss sugar and fat less.

I believe that staying away from ready-made foods will be the initial step for you to lose weight. They can taste excellent, but refined foods contain minimal nutritional value, causing you to consume more simply to have enough electricity to get over the day. If you’re constantly having these foods, moving over to cereals and other complex carbohydrates will help you to have more strength while consuming less. Interesting post.
Thanks for the comment. Sometimes time constraints require prepared foods. reading product labels can insure that what you are eating is healthy. See the recent post Natural Weight Loss and Healthy Snacking for some things to look for.
PS I deleted your link because I read the article you were linking to and it seems poorly spun. “Whether this means joining an exercise course or even standing up a bit sooner everyday, make time frame just for this addition to your schedule and do not let something enter the way.” Sorry, but I can’t link to something like that.
