Too many of us have the habit of eating as fast as we can, as we hurry from task to task. It might seem like it gives you extra time to get things done, but it makes us more likely to overeat.

When we rush through meals, our bodies don’t have enough time to let us know when we have satisfied our hunger, and we end up eating far more calories than we should. This makes it much harder to lose weight.

When we are eating hurriedly, we are more likely not to chew food enough, which makes it harder to digest, and may lead to indigestion or bloating.

Take the time to chew your food thoroughly, and savor each mouthful.You will enjoy the food more, and your digestion will function better.

Have a conversation with your family at meals, it will help slow you down, and might make your family feel more connected.

At least put your fork down between each mouthful, and only pick it up again after you swallow.

Mealtime should be an enjoyable respite rom your days work, not another chore to be hurried through.
