Remember to start gradually if you have been sedentary for some time, and as the article suggests, check with your doctor to be sure you are healthy enough for any new exercise program.

Walking every day is a great form of exercise, it can be fun and social, if you walk with a friend or friends. It can also be educational, if you listen to recorded books or lectures while you walk. Or you can just use the time to decompress. Our preference is to walk outdoors whenever possible (and as dog owners, we get outside every day, no matter the weather), but if you prefer a treadmill or elliptical machine at a gym, that’s good too. What matters is that you do it regularly. Every day if possible, but at least several times a week.

Combine daily walking with sensible eating choices, and you can walk your way to natural weight loss.
